UK Year of the Volunteer 2006 Helpers are needed by these very worthy local groups: The Depot (Youth Work) – urgently needs a Treasurer & Trustees, also Helpers to deliver advice and support to young people across the district. Carers Support Service (South Warks)- SWCSS (Helping those who are carers) - needs Befrienders to spend time talking with and listening to the carer. May occasionally sit with the cared for person. British Heart Foundation (Fights heart disease) - needs Research co-ord -help raise profile of BHF including recruitment of more contacts and volunteers (requires research and uses local knowledge). Contact the Elderly - (Taking elderly isolated people out the Sunday afternoon tea in small parties.) - needs Sunday afternoon rota drivers (to take elderly people to tea parties) and semi-annual hosts for those parties (of up to 14 people twice a year). Cancer Relief- Macmillan Fund (Helping those with cancer and their families to live better lives) - needs Fundraising Committee Members, helpers for street collections, event organisers, raffle ticket sellers. We urgently need volunteer drivers to help us with our Community Transport Scheme, (40p per mile allowance paid).
