Parker Smith

Parker died on 9th February having battled with leukaemia for a number of years; he refused to let his illness stop him from doing the things he enjoyed.

He and Nancy knew each other from childhood and eventually married in 1944 during Parker’s embarkation leave.  He served with the Royal Artillery and was wounded – hence his permanent lameness.

After the war Parker worked for H.P. Foods, including for a while in America turning round a failed company.

Parker and Nancy came to Oxhill in 1974 and soon became absorbed in village life.  Parker was a Churchwarden for some years, when his wisdom and sense of humour were much appreciated.

Our thoughts are very much with Nancy and with Anne, Jane and Richard and their families.

Think of Parker and his red socks and thumb stick, and smile fondly.  He was a good man, and a great friend who will be missed.
