The Queen's Diamond Jubilee

On the 5th October the group of villagers now organising the village celebrations of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee met at the Village Hall.

We discussed at some length the national Big Jubilee Lunch and how we could best participate. This Eden Project originated event has taken place over the past 3 years and our research indicates that the purpose is to encourage neighbours to come together and bring food to share. Consequently we have decided that our event will not provide food at the Big Jubilee Lunch but leave it to individuals or groups of friends to bring their own food if they want to take part. This allows people flexibility in the way they participate on Sunday but also enables the cost of the overall event tickets to be kept down. All facilities for the Big Jubilee Lunch will be provided by the organisers either in the marquee or along Main Street.

Having made this decision we worked on the budget to enable a provisional ticket price to be announced. These figures are given on the survey form which is included in the centre of this edition of the Oxhill News. Please pull out the survey form and complete it before one of the volunteers calls to collect it from you during the second half of November.

Thank you in advance for completing the survey particularly if you have provided a deposit for tickets. Your answers and responses will give us an indication of support in the village and help us plan the event.

The next meeting will be held at 8pm on Wednesday 2nd November at the Village Hall. Please come along to help make the Diamond Jubilee weekend a memorable one for Oxhill.

Any questions at this stage please contact Mike Collins on 680564.
