Vicarage Notes

On behalf of Martin and Sue Leaton, Bill Rolfe, Sirpa and myself, may I wish you all a happy and peaceful Christmas as we look forward to that special time. To those who are travelling we bid “safe journey”, and to parishioners and visitors we extend a warm welcome to all the special services at St.Lawrence’s.

Christmas 2011

Those Advent calendars, candles and wreaths remind us of things to come; the celebration of the birth of a child so long ago – and the welcome given to the Lord of love and glory. I hope the simple things can be enjoyed: family get-togethers, shared friendship, carols at home or in Church, and those familiar Bible readings that renew our focus on the infant child of Bethlehem. The first verse of Isaac Watts famous hymn is a great acclamation of praise:

Joy to the world, the Lord is come;
Let earth receive her King.
Let every heart prepare him room
And heaven and nature sing.

Another successful evening organised by Lilian and the Social and Fund Raising Committee! Thanks to them and to all – about 70 folk – who came along to support what was a splendid concert.
