Olympic Torch Relay

There was a good turn out from Oxhill in Newbold on Stour to watch the Olympic torch pass through the village but those present may not know that one of the runners returned later in the afternoon to thank the community for making his run so memorable. Nigel Leigh comes from Worcester and is one of the leaders of the Worcester Dragon Boat Club and was nominated for his charitable work that has developed from within the club. You may have seen their Women’s team of breast cancer suffers on the Thames during the recent Diamond Jubilee Pageant. I was lucky enough to meet Nigel and invited him and his partner and friends back to a friends barbeque party in the village for a drink where we had the opportunity to chat and have photos taken with the torch!
