Vicarage Notes Dear friends, Some of my farming acquaintances have been remembering very wet summers in the early 60s, and clearly the waterlogged ground is again creating great difficulties for all involved in agriculture. Compared with some areas, however, we have been fortunate and most local events have gone ahead as planned. An old chap said to me once: “smile and be happy – things could get worse.” I did and they were! Hopefully we will see some summer despite that gloomy saying, but, in any case, we should always look to building happiness. G.K. Chesterton, who could be miserable (particularly when talking about cocoa) did also point out that happiness is a hallmark of the Christian religion - both mysteries, but well worth adhering to. To all planning August holidays, journey safely, be happy and return refreshed! Best wishes and God bless, Nicholas Morgan 01608 685230 |
