Stour Singers - a Christmas bonus

For many years Stour Singers, conducted by founder director Richard Emms, has provided music in Shipston-on-Stour regularly during the Advent season. This year there are two concerts:-

On Saturday 8 December 2012 at 7.30pm in St Edmund’s Church the choir will be joined by the Cherwell Orchestra (leader Judy Springate), Rachel Bird (organ) & a fine quartet of international soloists – Sarah Power, soprano; Shelley Coulter-Smith, mezzo- soprano; Nathan Vale, tenor; and Darren Jeffery, bass-baritone in a performance of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio (Parts 1, 2, & 3.)  (Bach wrote this lovely work in six parts to be sung over the first 3 days of the Christmas festival & 3 days of the New Year; its total duration is much longer than modern concert length.)

The second concert , ‘The Great Carol Sing’ for choir & audience with seasonal readings by Anne Hume, is on Friday 14 December 2012 at 7.30pm in Townsend Hall, Sheep St., Shipston-on-Stour, with accompanist, Helen Porter.

Carols through the ages have given solace in difficult times and this is a great opportunity to listen, to take part & to enjoy a social mingling in the interval.

Tickets: for the church concert cost £12.50 , and for the Townsend  Hall, £7.00.

(If purchased together, the Townsend Hall ticket will be reduced to £5.00.)

NB   Accompanied children admitted free of charge to all Stour Singers events.

Tickets available from R Clarke, 27 High St, Shipston-on-Stour, Choir Members and at the door.
