A group has been set up in Shipston on Stour to start a local University of the Third Age (U3A). The U3A is a national organization for older people who are no longer in full time work.

By joining you will become part of a dynamic, outward looking organisation which enables you to share many educational, creative and leisure activities, as well as monthly meetings. Activities are organised mainly in small groups that meet regularly, often in each other’s homes. Some groups are more cerebral or aesthetic such as Bridge, Music, Chess, Art, Dance, Science, Nature or a Foreign Language; others more physical e.g. Walking, Boules and Cycling. No qualifications are required to join and none are given.

A Launch Meeting is being held on the April 16th in the Townsend Hall, Shipston on Stour at 14.00 hrs., where the decision will be made to start the U3A subject to sufficient support. If you are interested in joining, leading a group or just wish to find out more, we would be pleased to see you. Refreshments will be provided. More information on the U3A nationally can be found on their web site www.u3a.org.uk.

This site is maintained by villagers of Oxhill for the benefit of the community and those interested in the history, news and activities that make the village such a pleasant place to live.
