Vicarage Notes

We look forward to the famous Lamb and Curry Lunch on the 15th – your support is invited for this next fundraiser. The week before we shall be celebrating Whitsunday, the feats of Pentecost, which is often seen as the Church’s birthday. The red of the altar frontal reminds us of the fire of the Spirit that inspired the early disciples to go into the world to live and preach the gospel. Our faith should be a blessing to the whole world, and David Post’s recent talk about St.George’s Baghdad gave us an inspiring example of such.

Restoration Project

I write just before our Open Morning, but I would like to thank Anne Hale for giving her talk. I’m sure it will have been a worthwhile opportunity for folk to see what is going on. As most of you will know, a “corbel stone” fell after Easter. The other stones were checked immediately and 2 further stones were found to be cracked. All the stones have now been properly secured under the architects supervision with stainless steel rods and St.Lawrence’s is completely safe. The main work continues and, as expected, the more you do, the more you find, including badly bowing and cracked east window roundels - we plough on!

Best wishes and God bless,

Nicholas Morgan
