Deanery News

I hope you have been able to enjoy this glorious (most of the time) summer: and I trust too that the weather will carry over onto a fine day on September, 13th  for year’s Ride and Stride event taking place on Saturday, September 13th.  This is a glorious opportunity to undertake a sponsored horse ride, bicycle ride or walk between the churches of this Deanery, many of whom will be open to provide refreshments and welcome. Do take the chance to enjoy our glorious countryside, visit our churches, and support the Historic Churches Trust.

Deanery Synod will be meeting again on Tuesday, October 21st at 7.30 pm, when we look forward to going to Cherington: our speaker will be Revd. Canon Edward Pogmore, who retired recently as Senior Chaplain at the George Eliot Hospital Trust in Nuneaton.  Given that the role of any church is to preach the gospel and heal the sick, he will be asking ‘What is a parish for?’  and talking about the wholeness of healthcare and the healing ministry in a parish context. Anyone who has an interest in this is warmly invited, and I hope you will be able to join us.

In the meantime churches will be celebrating Harvest – a chance to thank God for his provision and care for us, and for those who work so hard to put food on our tables, but a chance also to commit ourselves to ensure that his provision is distributed equally across our world and reaches  those who are in such desperate need.

Every blessing,  Jill
