Village Hall and the Parish Plan

The recent Oxhill Village Plan asked residents what activities they would like to see take place in Oxhill and the Village Hall committee have reviewed that list and show below what we believe might be possible and what, because of space or other constraints, does not look to be able to be held in the Hall.

Already Occur:

ü  Pilates, Visiting Speakers, Book Clubs (there are 2 in the Village), Music events (currently 2 per year) and there is an Inter-Village cricket match between Oxhill & Tysoe is scheduled to take place in Tysoe on 30 August.

Possible:

bullet Activities for Children / Table Tennis / Bridge / Yoga / Zumba / Cycling or Similar Sports Clubs / Evening Exercise Club – The Hall is available for hire if anyone would like to start a club to do any of these.
bullet Film showings – There is a scheme run by Stratford Council that, in the past, we have participated in that provides all of the necessary equipment for a fee. However, they only make certain films available and these are voted on by local communities and the most popular one is then selected to run in various Village Halls. Historically, the film chosen has not proved popular in Oxhill and the events, which take quite a bit of setting up, often lost money. If someone would like to take the lead and organise these events, it is likely that some support could be available. Also, an occasional ‘Flicks in the Sticks’ event does occur in the Chapel.

Not Possible:

bullet Badminton & Ballroom Dancing (Hall is too small), Cookery Club (Kitchen is too small).

If anyone wants to lead a group on any of the above ‘Possible’ activities, please contact Derek Harbour on 680676 to discuss the opportunity.

This site is maintained by villagers of Oxhill for the benefit of the community and those interested in the history, news and activities that make the village such a pleasant place to live.
