Deanery News

It was good to have Bishop John with us in Ettington on October 4th to Confirm seven of our church members from across the Deanery, and we rejoice with them as they enter this next stage of their Christian lives. Just before that, at the very end of September, we were delighted to welcome Revd. Sarah Edmonds as the Associate Minister in the Ilmington Group of Churches.  Sarah and her family are now living in Tredington Rectory, but her ministry is across the whole group of churches. My thanks to all those who hosted and supported those two services.

Depending on when you get your magazine, there may still be time to tell you about the next Deanery Synod, which takes places on Tuesday, October 28th at 7.30 pm at Cherington Church.  This is a meeting which any are welcome to attend, and it may be of particular interest to those involved with prayer ministry, healing ministry or pastoral care in our churches.  The speaker is Canon Edward Pogmore, who retired last year as Chaplain of the Nuneaton Hospitals, and has feels passionately that our churches should be places of healing, it its widest sense.  So do come if you would like to hear him.

The end of November marks the beginning of Advent, and we are delighted that there is to be another Advent Quiet Morning in The Old Chapel, Main Street Oxhill, on Saturday, November 29th, led by Revd, Cathy Davies.  The morning will run from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm: coffee will be available from 9.30 am, and a light lunch will be served afterwards.  (Elisabeth Ashworth would appreciate knowing numbers for lunch if possible: 01608 686391).  You are welcome to come for all or part of the morning: this is a space to be still as we think anew of the enormity of God’s coming to us at Christmas.

Every blessing,  Jill
