Village Market

The inaugural Oxhill Village Market took place on the morning of Saturday, 18 October and over 60 people came along to view and buy the many diverse foods and crafts that were available for sale. The stall holders ranged from Penny Varley showing her fabulous Pottery to Jay Roberts and John Barker’s enterprising Oxhilli Chilli temptations and Tysoe Butcher’s fayre. These were accompanied by the Crafts, Cards and Chocolates shown by the ladies from Knit & Natter, Douglas Nethercleft’s Honey, Gaynor van Dijk’s Cakes & Candles, Mike Sanderson’s Veggies, Carol Taylor’s Chutneys, John McKail’s Jams and Tricia Harbour’s Christmas Cards & Crumbles.

Entrance tickets were £1 and this entitled attendees to a hot drink (tirelessly provided by Karen Barker) and a raffle ticket. The raffle was drawn on the day and Katy Marsh (from Wroxton) won the sampler Hamper (donated by the stall holders), Roger Goodman won the Pork joint (donated by Tysoe Butchers) and Grenville Moore won the seed Potatoes (donated by Mike Sanderson).

Feedback, both at the event and afterwards suggests that this event should be repeated but we might need a bigger Village Hall!
