Vicarage Notes

Dear friends,

Harvest Thanksgiving

Special thanks to all who decorated St.Lawrence’s for the Harvest Festival – it looked wonderful, particularly with the new chancel  “uplighting” fitted by Charles! The tinned and dried goods donated went to Coventry foodbank and the collection and mini auction proceeds to Farm Africa.

Thought for the month

November is, as always, the month of remembrance and there is the special Service at 4pm on the 1st: a reminder of All Souls Day on the 2nd. The Village Remembrance Service is on the 8th, and all are very warmly invited.

An 8th century requiem:

Thou hast come safe to port, I still at sea,
The light is on thy head, darkness in me.
Pluck thou in heaven’s field violet and rose.
While I strew flowers that will thy vigil keep,
Love, in thy last repose.

Best wishes and God bless,
