Edgehill Bellringers

All towers in the Edgehill area were rung over the Christmas period and several people within earshot came to say how wonderful it was to hear the bells at that time of year.  Hopefully the ringing is appreciated at other times of the year as well!

At Easter Quarter peals were rung on Easter Sunday at Chadshunt, Burton Dassett, Radway, Avon Dassett, and Butlers Marston. On Easter Monday at Alderminster, Honington, Halford, Farnborough and Hanwell.

Queen’s 90th Birthday

There will be a lot of ringing to celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday. Two peals were rung on 21 April, the first at Burton Dassett where it took 3 hours and 4 minutes and the second at Honington – 2 Hours and 56 minutes.  The peal at Burton Dassett was the first peal at this church for 40 years.

There was a peal at Shotteswell on the 30th March and another at Radway on the 24th April.

Quarter peals are planned in many of the local churches during the week of celebrations in June for the official birthday and on Saturday the 11th June there will be a bell ringing tour of churches in the area. On Sunday the 12th June Kineton Church tower will be open for everyone to come and see and ‘have a go’ to celebrate the occasion so during the afternoon come and ‘Ring for the Queen’!!

The wedding season is upon us with many weddings to ring for but with other commitments finding enough people to ring for some of churches is difficult. More ringers are needed – particularly in some of the smaller villages. So if you would like a different but interesting new activity – get in touch via the Edgehill ringers web pages.

Tour - The ringers annual outing is planned for the Hook Norton area in July – a tour of the brewery is going to be the lunchtime attraction!

Restoration - The fundraising efforts at Pillerton Hersey are going well and it looks now that an order could be placed before long to restore their three bells for ringing and add a bell from Adlestrop that they have purchased - a project for 2017.

The annual Peal at St Peter’s Kineton is planned for the 26th July so listen out for us
