Tysoe Church of England Primary School

Summer Term

The children have been out and about making the most of the warmer weather. The older children have a residential trip to Swanage to enjoy a beach study and delight in rock pools. Activities also include following a trail and learning about key characters in the town. Time away from home helps children to develop independence and participate in teamwork.

Recently the youngest children enjoyed finding out about animals from a visiting vet, as part of their Pet Theme. Another exciting event was the arrival of a hen house which the children scrubbed in preparation for the class chickens. Not to be outdone, Class 2 have been caring for caterpillars and watching how quickly they grow. A net cage is all ready for the next stage in the life cycle and daily observations are eagerly made.

Another informative visit was to the Gurdwara in Leamington. Years 3 and 4 are learning about Sikhism and they really impressed their guide with their knowledge and understanding of the beliefs and stories from the first Gurus.

As part of the preparation for the recent SATs tests, a mental maths week was held. All classes practised number bonds and times tables. Certificates were awarded for good progress and also to the highest achievers. The children then completed their tests with maturity and effort, to make everyone very proud of them.

Coming up soon, lots of events are planned to commemorate the Queen’s birthday. Classes will learn about the Commonwealth and study one country for a themed week.

There is always the opportunity for any prospective parent to visit and see the school in action. Please contact Mrs Horrocks on 01295-680244 to make an appointment.
