Garden Club Outing to Bristol

On August 18th some 40 members of the Garden Club and colleagues from Tysoe and Kineton went on a most enjoyable visit by coach to Bristol. The morning was spent at the SS Great Britain. This fine old ship designed by Brunel is now in good fettle having been brought back from the Falkland Islands in the early 70s and since lovingly restored. Life was hard in those days and if you weren’t travelling first class there were few comforts aboard.

Later in the day we progressed to Tyntesfield and had a chance to see the gardens and the old house which had belonged to the Gibbs family.  They made their money shipping guano from South America to Britain where it was used as fertiliser.

Thanks to Reg for organising everthing
