Return of a Scarecrow Weekend in 2017?

It’s scary how time flies! The last time Oxhill staged a Scarecrow Weekend was back in 2013, the year after our hugely successful Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations; which has got members of your Village Hall Committee, Parochial Church Council and Parish Council wondering if 2017 is the year the village should host another Scarecrow Weekend?

The Scarecrow Weekend, last time it was held, involved villagers creating and displaying a fantastic array of scarecrows outside their houses and gardens, not to mention inside the Church. Several gardens were opened to the public, home made refreshments provided from the Chapel and a marquee, a pig roast provided and The Peacock put on live entertainment.

Many visitors from the district (and some beyond) were attracted to the village and we charged for car parking; while the whole weekend proved an important fundraiser for the Church raising £2,000.

So, is it time to re-introduce the weekend for 2017?

We are keen to hear your views and hope you might find a few minutes to complete our short survey form by putting the following link in your browser:

We will then analyse the results which will help us decide if we should re-instate the event for 2017. We will keep you informed of developments through the Oxhill News.

Thank you, in advance, for your time and trouble completing our survey.
