Tysoe Church of England Primary School

Autumn Update

This term has been full of special events to inspire and support great learning. Year 3 enjoyed working with two sculptors to create stunning 3D animals, which will soon be a permanent exhibition. Older children have been studying Macbeth and confidently performed an extract in their class assembly. We also celebrated the Harvest in St Mary’s Church, with each class contributing a bible reading, poem or prayer and joined together in our favourite harvest songs. A large amount of gifts was donated to the Coventry Food Bank.

The Welcome Back Party was a huge success with over 130 people enjoying September evening sunshine, a tasty supper and a scavenger hunt. The evening was relaxed and informal but also raised over £300. To help our funds, Tysoe School has been chosen by the Stratford branch of Waitrose as the November recipient of their Community Matters Campaign. Please help our village school by selecting us for your tokens.

Thanks to highly committed staff, we are able to run many after school clubs, including art, cookery, Lego with computers, recorders, drama, art and textiles. The curriculum is also enhanced by peripatetic teachers offering football, multi-sports, French and a range of music lessons. The wide extra-curricular provision is fun for the children and also supports the development of their personal and social skills.

Parents have also had many opportunities to be involved with the work of the school: a workshop on Maths calculation methods, an information evening on E-safety and a working party to maintain the outdoor area. Recently we held an Open Morning for prospective parents and Year 6 children confidently led tours of the school. Anyone who missed that opportunity is welcome to contact Mrs Horrocks, on 01295-680244 to arrange a visit.
