Gardening Club -
... Visits the Savill Gardens and takes a boat trip on the Thames.
Thanks to the organising ability of Reg Gethin, on 21st August the Oxhill Garden Club and friends filled a coach and visited the Savill Garden. Just four miles from Windsor Castle and adjacent to Windsor Great Park, the 35 acres of formal gardens and woodland were created in the 1930s and are managed by the Crown Estates. Blessed with fine warm weather we enjoyed the delightful variety of plants and trees and many of us made good use of the lunch facilities.
To round off the day the group made the short journey to Runnymede on the Thames and took an exclusive pre-booked river trip – viewing the many riverside properties and boats, and going through one of the large locks.
